THE STORY OF SHE is a project that deals with the concept of she; a woman written in the third person, a symbol for a fictitious self. The project consists of a text in prosaic style and a series of art pieces that examine womanhood as a played role.

The character "SHE" is what the main character sees when she observes herself. The title alludes to all women's lack of referenses in history, which in the text is mirrored by a fragmented chronology. Iris Smeds has worked with the book "The History of She", since 2008 and during time she included more characters to the text, which she later made into performances. She and The Lone Amazon are among others such performances. The latest and the final character is The Jazz Singer.

THE STORY OF SHE have been shown at Tegen2, Stockholm,andt BKS Garage i Köpenhamn. Performance from the project have been shown at Transit Station, Copenhagen and Niklas Belenius Gallery, Milliken Gallery and Fylkingen, Stockholm.
